Oh My Aching Hips!

Aching Hips

Located in joints throughout the body, “bursae” are fluid-filled sacs that are positioned between bones and soft tissues, acting as cushions to help reduce friction. “Bursitis” results when a bursa becomes inflamed and swells with fluid. The most common form of hip bursitis, “trochanteric bursitis”, involves the broad, flat area of bone (“greater trochanter”) at the top of each thigh bone (femur). When the bursae underlying several of the large muscles anchored to the greater tochanter become inflamed, there is chronic, aching pain in the outer portion of the hip. Because bursitis of the hip may result from abnormal hip mechanics due to arthritis, leg-length discrepancies, or back problems, chiropractic treatment may be helpful in addressing the problem’s underlying causes.

When the bones of your spine are not moving properly or are out of their normal position, irritation to the nerve or pain in the joints may occur. Chiropractic care and the adjustment/manipulation of the spine restore the proper position and movement of the bones and joints within the spinal column and extremities.
